Mary Van Katharine Hepburn DAAAMN!

I’m attempting a Katharine Hepburn inspired look today.

Isn’t she hot?   I love the way she can make menswear so sexy.   Part of that sex appeal comes from the strength and confidence she had to wear pants at a time when women only wore skirts.

I went to this consignment store near my house yesterday and tried on these pants.   As you might already know, I’m not a pants person, but only because it’s so hard to find pants that look good on me!  When I saw these high-waisted 40s inspired trousers, I thought, “This could work!”  I tried them on and couldn’t decide.  I left the store only to return the next day TWICE, trying them on again and again until I finally decided to purchase them.

I’m a high-waist junkie these days.  If my pants or skirts don’t wrap around the thinnest part of my waist, I feel uncomfortable.  I never thought I’d wear pants over my stomach like *gasp* my mother used to do.  I guess I like it because 1) It’s more vintage-y 2) It’s my way of protesting the “ultra-low, let me show you what color thong I’m wearing” trend 3) It accentuates your narrow waist line, while showing off your curves (it’s feminine) and 4) It gives the illusion of longer legs (I don’t think I’m fooling anybody).

Blouse: Vintage, Seconds to Go
Pants: Second-hand, GoodByes (I think I need to hem them up a bit)
