Mary Van DAAAMN!

Belt and socks: somewhere
I bought this dress at Hollywoodland Antiques, a gem of a place I found in Hollywoodland, possibly the most charming place in Los Angeles, period. Hollywoodland is the little neighborhood directly underneath the Hollywood sign. You might not know that the Hollywood sign originally said Hollywoodland, but part of the sign was damaged in a fire and never fixed. At least that’s how I heard the story went. This antique store was open, and lo and behold there was a rack of vintage clothing. There was no dressing room, but I tried them on regardless (thanks to the kind owner who watched the door as I changed). I’m so glad I did because the entire rack of 1940s dresses were from a woman my size. Dream come true. I picked up two dresses, a beautiful pair of beaded gloves and a hair net in the original packaging from 1946. (Did you know hair nets back then were made of human hair?!?!?) Other treasures to be documented at a later date, don’t you worry.
By the way, this is what I wore on Thanksgiving. I hope y’all had a good one.
