a 1930s gown kind of evening
The producer of a comedy show I performed at told us comics that we had to dress up. When you tell me to dress up be warned, I’ll be busting out EVENING WEAR. I took the opportunity to wear a vintage 1930s evening gown. I haven’t yet found an opportunity to wear it, and I was planning on it being my New Year’s Eve dress, but I couldn’t wait ’til then. I just couldn’t wait! Plus, it’s not like I have New Year’s Eve plans yet (I’m still book-able!!! hint hint).
1930s evening gown: ebay (and this might kill some of you, but I got it for only $20)
1950s/60s cape/coat with faux fur trim: ebay
1950s rhinestone purse: estate sale
earrings, ring: gift
heels: Bunny’s Shoes, Santa Cruz

Me smiling with the thought that I scored this beauty for 20 bones.
The dress is in incredible shape. I only had to do a wee bit of mending. Some of the amazing details: the sleeves that come to points at the wrist, rhinestone trim on the arms, cocoon or batwing peekaboo sleeves… basically it’s all about the sleeves. : )
I am curious about the neck line that turns into two little sashes in the back. Am I wearing it right?
I’m sure the Vintage Baroness would know. : )
P.S. On an unrelated note, I posted a new vlog on youtube. In this one I rant about the Bank of America debit card I got in the mail instead of my unemployment check.

I don’t know enough about vintage fashions to say whether the neckline with the sashes is supposed to be worn that way, but it certainly looks right. I can’t imagine what else you’d do with it.

The dress is drop dead gorgeous you look amazing and that coat oh my I am jealous. Cannot believe that rubbish about bank of america, I was unemployed for just under a year and it was bad enough living on the little I got but at least it went straight into my bank, appalling. xx

Beautiful! I always hold off on buying things like this as I don’t think I’d have anywhere to wear them.
