Mary Van Happy Birthday Nick DAAAMN!

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

It’s my friend Nick’s birthday on Friday so we celebrated it last night with an amazing dinner, pineapple upside-down cake, and some archery on the wii.  It was also a jam-packed day of great times with friends.  I met my good pals Uni and Her Ukelele and Griffin Point for breakfast, and then walked around downtown doing some Halloween shopping with Nicole before heading home for the birthday dinner.  I didn’t even realize it, but the outfit I wore really mimics the kind of fun day I had, with all the colorful people in my life.  Awwww!  That’s stupid sweet!

Mary Van Fall DAAAMN!

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

I’m finally excited about fall.   I know, I know… it took me awhile.   What can I say?   I live in San Francisco and we didn’t get much of a summer.   When fall began I was left yearning for sunny days and barbecues, laying on beaches in vintage swimsuits and lounging in playsuits.  But when I got a load of clothes from Nicole of Fashion Forestry, I was stoked.  A new assortment of vintage and modern pieces were mine and I was excited to wear them out.   This outfit was one I was thinking of long before I put it on.  Looks like it might be my quintessential Fall 2010 look.

Mary Van Heat in November DAAAMN!

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Yesterday was one of those weird San Francisco days when it was super hot in November.  We didn’t have much of a summer this year, so it was almost welcome, though the heat took me by surprise.  I took the opportunity to don some spring colors in fall.  But it was so hot I ended up changing out of this later to something even cooler!

Mary Van DAAAMN!

I performed at a burlesque show last Wednesday at the Uptown in Oakland.  It was a benefit for Eddie who needs money for eye surgery.  Something about performing in burlesque shows makes me excited about dressing up.   It’s the opportunity to be a bit more daring… glamorous… theatrical… and dramatic!  I think the fake eyelashes and 1940s hat hit all those notes and more.

Cabin Day One

Monday, November 15th, 2010

I had a great time up at my family’s cabin this past weekend.  It was the first time the whole family could be together there.  My new 40s autumn leaves hat is my favorite fall accessory of the moment.   It’s so festive!
